Kindergarten in ISD 192
We provide full-day kindergarten for all families. The school day is six and a half hours long, including a morning snack break, lunch, recess, and quiet rest time. Kindergarten classes incorporate basic concepts of core academic subjects including literacy, writing, math, social studies, science, technology, health and social skills. Learners also attend special classes for art, music, and physical education, and make weekly trips to the school Media Center.

Building a Strong Foundation
At Farmington Area Public Schools, we believe in laying a strong foundation for learners’ academic journeys. Our kindergarten programs are designed to ignite curiosity and excitement in our youngest Tigers.
Learning Through Play
Through an engaging, play-based curriculum, children develop essential skills in literacy, math, and social interactions. Over the course of the school year kindergarten learners will:
- Build critical thinking and planning skills.
- Develop strong listening habits.
- Practice collaboration skills by working, playing and sharing with others.
- Learn and use letters and sounds to become readers and writers.
- Increase vocabulary.
- Learn to count and use numbers across math concepts.
- Increase fine motor skills through the use of scissors, crayons, paints and brushes.
- Practice using a pencil for printing.
- Learn self-expression through music, art, dramatic play, and speech.

On-site Childcare
Kid Connection is a fee-based, school-age care program providing high-quality care before and after school and on non-school days. Kid Connection incorporates additional learning opportunities outside of the classroom in reading, math, science, physical education and music.
